I am a graduate student under the direction of Dr. Ruoyu “Fish” Wang in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) at Arizona State University. I am conducting a research study to understand and evaluate if our tool Oxidizer can help with the task of reverse engineering Rust programs.
I am inviting your participation, which will take up to one hour of your time. You will be given 6 code snippets. Based on each snippet you will answer a few questions. You have the right not to answer any question, and to stop participation at any time.
Your participation in this study is voluntary. If you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time, there will be no penalty, for example, it will not affect your grade. On completion of this study, you will be awarded a $50 Amazon gift card. You must be 18 or older to participate in the study.
After completion of this study, you will gain more experience in software reverse engineering and security analysis. Specifically, you will get to experience cutting-edge research on the latest Rust reverse engineering. There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to your participation.
We will not collect any Personal Identifiable Information (PII). We will not audio record or video record you during this study. All the collected data will be saved securely and will only be accessed by my advisor and me. Your responses will be anonymous. The results of this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications but your name will not be used. The results will only be used in aggregate form. The anonymous data collected as a part of the current study will not be shared with non-authorized researchers, other investigators or industry partners for future research purposes.
If you have any questions concerning the research study, please contact the research team at: fishw@asu.edu (Dr. Ruoyu “Fish” Wang) and yiboliu@asu.edu (Yibo Liu).
If you have any questions about your rights as a subject/participant in this research, or if you feel you have been placed at risk, you can contact the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board, through the ASU Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, at (480) 965-6788.
